FRESNO STATE HEALTH CENTER: OFFERS EXPERTS

Health

Due to the recent spread of COVID-19, the society has seen unprecedented changes. This could cause stress and fear. These changes have undoubtedly had an impact on Fresno State Health Center’s campus community. This includes students who are now learning with technology in virtual classes rather than in person classrooms.
Although 90% of staff work remotely and students do not attend classes on campus anymore, the Student Health and Counseling Center at Fresno State Health Center is still open and offers counseling services to students. To schedule an appointment, students can call 559.278.2734. Students will receive a Zoom link that allows them to connect with a counselor during their appointment.

Students can call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1.800.273.TALK (8255), or chat online with the Crisis Text Line at 741-741.

Fresno County Department of Behavioral Health established a COVID-19 Warmline, 559.600 WARM (9276), in order to provide non-emergency emotional support and coping skills to members of the community.

Fresno State Health Center’s clinical case manager Diana Karageozian said that many students spend more time at school than elsewhere. Students may feel isolated from their educational families, which can be very isolating. Fresno State Health Center is committed My Legacy Health to creating a sense of community by making counseling, advice, and other professionals available remotely.

FresnoStateNews.com reached experts from the Student Health and Counseling Center – Malia Sherman, Karageozian, counseling services director, and Georgianna Negron – for advice on how students and their community can reduce stress and anxiety in these difficult times.
